GRACIE CK46. Smack owned by D.J. Green of West Mersea. Built Brightlingsea in 1890 as a half deck pleasure boat for Clacton Beach. Sold to the Cutts Avis family of West Mersea during WW1, who roughly decked over her large cockpit and used her for oyster dredging. During this period she picked up her nickname "Sugar Scoop". This was apparently due to her odd appearance. Between the war GRACIE was bought by Joss Wright of Maldon and registered MN22. He raised her topsides by one pland, layed a flush deck and fitted two hatches. In 1947 Mr Vic Herbert owned her and she was registered CK46, being moored at West Mersea. The present owner bought her in 1967 and has carried out extensive rebuilding. GRACIE won Class I in 1969, the NEVA in 1972 and 74 and the Sheave in 1973 and 1976.
