A new event for EHWB which will see the oyster smacks of Maldon race from the beach at the Prom down river to meet up with their allocated Mersea Bumkin near to Osea Island.

They will load the bumkin with Maldon Oysters and Maldon Salt. The loaded bumkins will then race back to Mersea, tie up, scull ashore and find the nearest oyster merchant to sell their wares to !

The winners will be the team that secured the highest price for their cargo…
