Built by William Wyatts Ltd of West Mersea in 1948 although the registration number allocation was on 1/6/1949. Golden Chance was built for George A Stoker. His grandson David Stoker recalls oyster dredging for native oysters in her c.1952 when he left school. He explained why she was given her name -

“My grandfather took his wife out in one of the boats during the time the new boat was being built and out in the Quarters was a vessel at anchor called GOLDEN CHANCE. My grandmother said I like that name, so he named his new oyster boat GOLDEN CHANCE “

Golden Chance was sold to Tim Walsh in c.2000 and he commissioned Adrian Wombell of Tollesbury to restore her.

Sold in 2025 to Bart and Alan Jones who are very excited to get her back on the water again.

To be continued..
